Previously, it used to take days to secure, now a medical visa (Mvisa) from Indian diplomatic missions in many countries can be issued in 48 hours. The benefit also extends to the patient’s companions, who have to be either his or her spouse/children or a blood relation. And only a maximum of two attendants will be accepted.
Tourists availing of this service are also required to register with the local government (FRROs) within 14 days of arrival.
This visa used to be valid for six months, but has been extended to three years, provided the visitor can furnish a recommendation from the doctor.
