Cancer insurance could reduce Jordan medical tourism

The Jordanian Cabinet has decided to cover all patients diagnosed with cancer with free insurance. This will reduce or end the need for cancer patients to pay for treatment in Jordan or overseas.

Each of the affected Jordanian citizens will receive an insurance card to be renewed annually until the end of treatment.

The decision authorises heads of public and military hospitals across Jordan to transfer cancer patients directly to the King Hussein Cancer Centre, universities, the Royal Medical Services hospitals and Prince Hamzah Hospital without the need to obtain the approval through a special medical committee.
