Closure of global medical travel platform

Berlin based Medigo launched in 2013 as a medical travel platform with the slogan, ‘Medical Travel Made Simple’.

By 2016, the company was claiming over 350,000 website visits was getting a month. Between 2013 and 2020, it arranged thousands of treatments ranging from simple health check-ups to cancer therapies.

In 2017, it expanded into providing global third party administration services for insurers.

However earlier this year, Medigo decided to shut down the medical travel platform and focus solely on business services. It also ceased offering its major illness treatment insurance which had not gained traction.

The medical tourism booking site has spent over €10 million of investors’ money. Most funding came from venture capital and private equity funds, whose strategy involves making investments in high risk start-up businesses.
