Dental tourism expanding in Romania

There has been a significant increase of the number of foreign or Romanian born patients from other countries going to Romania for complex dental treatment at low prices.

Oana Taban of dental clinic group Dent Estet explains ”We have seen an annual increase of between 15% and 20% each year in the last 5 years, of foreigners who use our services. Dental tourism now accounts for 15% of group income.”

Taban argues, “Romania has a huge potential to attract foreign clients for dental tourism, as the costs of treatment is up to 70% lower than in the countries that patients come from. But few clinics in Romania have international standards, the technology needed and experienced dentists that can offer services at the same quality levels found in the top clinics in developed countries.”
