First sports and wellness cruise ship

US-based Blue World Voyages has launched a new cruise liner concept, dedicated to sports, fitness and wellness. Claiming to have created a new niche in the speciality cruise sector, ‘Active Lifestyle Cruising’, the ship is set to launch cruises in the Mediterranean this summer subject to getting finance.

Blue World Voyages co-founder John Richards explains: “This is not your ordinary cruise ship. Beginning with the design of the vessel and on-board programmes and extending to dining options and ports of call, everything we do makes it easy for people who are already energised and healthy to stay on their regimen while having the time of their lives.”

An entire deck is devoted to sports and fitness including a spacious functional training gym, bike fitting station, batting cages, golf, soccer and hockey simulators; spinning and TRX studios, and a Hank Haney Golf School. Another entire deck is devoted to spa, wellness and rejuvenation with a therapy tub, indoor and outdoor treatment rooms and solarium. There are three pools, including a seawater lap pool for open water swim training. The ship boasts a farm-to-table cuisine, educational programmes, active shore excursions, guest lecturers, and evening entertainment.

Subject to getting finance, Blue World Voyages is set to launch the 350 passenger ship in summer 2019, with a new niche in the speciality cruise sector by promoting ‘Active Lifestyle Cruising’ for wellness-minded adults. The cruise will also meet the growing demand from travellers who are keen to stay healthy and active while on holiday.

Each week, Blue World Voyages will sail on seven-day voyages. The ship will spend her maiden season in the Mediterranean, offering cruises to Italy, Greece, Spain, France, Portugal, Corsica and Croatia.
