Florida’s Paradise Coast targets wellness travel

A group of Collier County, Florida tourism professionals has founded the Wellness Tourism Visionary Task Force to develop strategies establishing Florida’s Paradise Coast – Naples, Marco Island and the Everglades – as a wellness destination and to capitalise on the fast-growing multibillion-dollar wellness tourism industry.

The task force has chosen the slogan "Be Well in Paradise" to amplify the destination’s brand, which is Florida’s Paradise Coast. The potential to grow wellness tourism into a major draw for visitors is strong and wellness offerings will attract visitors from all over the world to enjoy Naples, Marco Island and the Everglades.

The task force, supported by marketing strategies developed by the Naples, Marco Island, Everglades Convention and Visitors Bureau, is establishing a network of wellness providers in Collier County to attract wellness travellers from around the world. At present, the network is represented online as part of the tourism destination website at www.ParadiseCoast.com/Wellness

The group’s aim is to gather more wellness offerings, events and initiatives from hotels, restaurants, attractions, sports and spa facilities, activity and tour providers, and holistic facilities under one online umbrella as a resource for wellness travellers.

Florida's Paradise Coast is a wellness destination with many healthy activities such as fitness programmes; beach walks; spa resorts; and workshops on health and serenity. Southwest Florida is actively engaged in the Blue Zones Project, a community-wide well-being improvement initiative focused on improving wellbeing for their customers, themselves and the entire community. Together, they aim to lower obesity rates, smoking and chronic disease to create a healthier, happier place to live, work and play.
