ISAPS launches global initiative

The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery launches Global Alliance. The target for the next two years is to narrow the international gap on standards of accreditation among different countries, cultures and surgeons.

The International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS), represents the global cosmetic surgery community. It has launched a Global Alliance forum as a clear voice for the industry and to address the important issue of patient safety. The Global Alliance will have a physical and virtual presence to advise and consult on all concerns relating to cosmetic surgery on a global scale.

The target for the next two years is to narrow the international gap on standards of accreditation among different countries, cultures and surgeons. The alliance is of 40 national cosmetic surgery societies.

The topic of safe medical tourism is of high concern and the ISAPS Global Alliance seeks to develop standards on safe medical tourism. By focusing on the travelling patient, these standards will cover across-the-board operating procedures protecting patients in every country.

The Global Alliance seeks to unify training standards through education and with the support of organizations such as the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAAASF).
