Kuwait government panel rejects proposal to cancel treatment abroad

According to a brief article in the Kuwait Times, the Rapporteur of the parliament’s health affairs committee MP Saadoun Hammad has said the committee rejected a proposal to cancel the government-sponsored treatment overseas program because Kuwaiti citizens should not be deprived from receiving medical treatment.

Hammad added that the committee rejected a proposal to establish a medical committee to be responsible for dispatching citizens for treatment abroad, instead of the health ministry.

Last month, IMTJ reported that the Kuwait Ministry of Health has been tightening regulations for treatment abroad over the last few years.
