More hospitals and clinics have been or are becoming internationally certified.
St. Catherine Specialty Hospital in Zagreb, Croatia, has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation by the Global Healthcare Accreditation programme for medical travel services.
Berlin based KTQ International certifies 20 hospitals and one care home in Austria plus Tongji Hospital in China. The latest country and facility addition is Chapidze Emergency Cardiology Centre in Georgia.
Accreditation Canada has accredited Hospital General Babahoyo (IESS) in Babahoyo, Ecuador.
Temos International has awarded quality in international patient care certification to two Anatolia Hospital Group hospitals in Turkey; Lara Anatolia Hospital and Aspendos Anatolia Hospital.
TGGD Medical & Dental Clinic in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia, a partnership between Top Glove Corporation and Global Doctors Hospital has successfully fulfilled the quality healthcare standards for certification by Temos.

JCI has published the January 2018 Joint Commission International Accreditation Standards for Primary Care, 2nd Edition.
In the 2nd Edition, there are three main sections of standards: 1) community involvement and integration 2) patient centred services, and 3) health care organization management. Each standard includes an intent statement, which describes the rationale for the standard, and measurable elements, which are the specific requirements of the standard
In addition to the standards, an introduction, the eligibility requirements, a summary of key accreditation policies, a glossary, and an index are included.
Areas of Focus in New Requirement
In the 2nd edition, all International Patient Safety Goals (IPSGs) were updated as appropriate to primary care. Other requirement changes include the addition of several new standards, as well as a few new requirements added to existing standards from the previous edition. The areas of focus include the following: A new section describes the specific requirements for participating in the JCI accreditation process and maintaining an accreditation award.
The effective date of the 2nd Edition is 1 July 2018, which means all surveys that begin on or after this date will be surveyed under the 2nd Edition.
JCI wants to encourage organizations that are starting on the JCI accreditation journey to be well prepared. These health care organizations should establish sustainable processes and systems that will enable them to be in continuous and robust compliance with JCI’s accreditation standards. As such, hospitals that undergo their first survey after January 2018 are required to have a six-month track record (increased from the requirement of four months).
