Malaysia seeks greater cooperation with China in medical tourism

According to The Star Online, Malaysia’s Deputy Prime Minister has said Malaysia hopes to establish greater bilateral cooperation with Chinese businesses in medical health tourism.

Other fields where Malaysia is also seeking co-operation with China are cybersecurity and smart city technology, said Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail. She said Malaysia welcomed quality global investments including from China, especially in capital intensive, high-skilled and technologically advanced projects that support its sustainable development agenda.

The article states that China has been Malaysia’s number one trading partner for the past 10 years, while Malaysia remains one of its largest trading partners in Asean. As the world’s second-largest economy, China has also been Malaysia’s largest foreign investor in the manufacturing sector for the past three consecutive years, primarily in the paper, electronics and electrical, transport, plastics and basic metals.
