Medigo publishes cosmetic surgery enquiry data

Research from Medigo on cosmetic surgery enquiries from nine countries shows how destinations differ in the services requested.

2018 research from medical travel platform Medigo on cosmetic surgery enquiries from nine countries shows how countries differ in what services are sought.

Of the 14,000 enquiries they looked at, the USA, France and the UK ranked highest in terms of volume, followed by Australia, Italy, Canada, Spain, Germany and Switzerland.

The most popular procedures in North America are:

  • Liposuction 20% of enquiries
  • Brazilian butt lifts 14%
  • Breast implants 13%

The most popular procedures in UK are

  • Liposuction 17%
  • Breast implants 11%
  • Rhinoplasty 10%

The increased number of people considering rhinoplasties in the UK and USA may have in part been influenced by Meghan Markle’s engagement to Prince Harry and the desire to copy Meghan’s nose shape.

France is the only country where the procedure for hairline lowering is in the top three of all enquiries, suggesting a real concern amidst the French about hair loss.

The International Society of Aesthetic Global Surgery made the following predictions for 2018:

  • Men are becoming more comfortable with cosmetic procedures. The stigma has slowly been worn down, and we can expect that to continue into 2018 and beyond.
  • Labiaplasty will continue to be among the fastest growing cosmetic surgical procedures in the world. There will also be an increase in the popularity of vaginal tightening procedures.
  • Breast augmentation remains as popular as ever.
  • Rhinoplasty has been a reliably popular surgery for years, but there has been an increase in popularity in patients who want to have their nose modelled on that of Meghan Markle.
