New international hospital on China’s Silk Road

With an investment of 850 million yuan (US$121 million), the Phase I project of Urumqi International Hospital is in the core area of the Silk Road Economic Belt. Urumqi is to be developed as a centre of transport, trade and logistics, financial services, and medical services.

The new hospital offers medical services for Central and Western Asian countries. It has links with 24 hospitals in five countries through a cross-border telemedicine service platform.

Wherever Silk Road cities are built in China and elsewhere there is likely to be major hospital building within the plan.
