NW Malaysia State Attracts 9,000 Medical Travellers

9,078 people from various countries visited Perak under medical tourism between January and June 2019, said state tourism committee chairman Tan Kar Hing in The Star.

Tan Kar Hing said in the article that four private hospitals were picked by the visitors for their medical treatment.

“Perak’s strength in heritage and nature encouraged these visitors to choose the state besides the expertise offered by the private hospitals. However, the state government is not ignoring the fact that there are other segments that need promoting although medical tourism is being promoted actively,” Tan said in response to a written question by Datuk Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Noordin (BN-Kampong Gajah) during the state assembly sitting.

“To expand this segment, cooperation will be carried out with Malaysian Health Tourism Council” he stated.
