Oman international airports open next month

Oman suspended regular operations at its airports on March 29 as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since then, foreign and domestic airlines were permitted to repatriate expatriates in Oman to their home country and were permitted to bring citizens and residents back to the sultanate.

Flights allowed in and out will depend on the current health conditions of specific destinations and according to the bilateral agreements with other airlines.

Oman Air is preparing to resume its scheduled operations as of early October, and is taking additional precautionary measures. The national airline has set up a plan to restart its operations to many destinations around the world.

Thousands of patients from Oman get treatment abroad, most being self-pay. Most go to India, Malaysia and Thailand – all of which are likely to be closed to them for several more months. Others go to Europe, such as Germany, but most EU countries also remain closed to Oman.
