Ovum Fertility Matters Infertility clinic in Athens, Greece

Founded in 2009 by Dr Anastasios Sykoutris, a UK-trained specialist in IVF, OVUM is an Athens-based fertility clinic comprising a group of highly experienced consultant gynaecologists, biologists and midwives.

With a large egg donation programme, OVUM specialises in helping women who are unable to produce enough eggs, even with maximum doses of infertility drugs, those with premature ovarian failure or premature menopause, those with serious genetic conditions such as haemophilia or Duchene’s muscular dystrophy, those who have undergone repeated IVF failures and those over the age of 45.

There are no waiting lists for egg donation treatment at OVUM. In accordance with Greek regulations, which are similar to HFEA, all donors undergo medical and genetic testing and remain anonymous. Donor matching is determined mainly on the physical characteristics of the recipient and prospective clients are asked to provide a photo, although with a large database of donors this does not usually prove restrictive.

Currently the success rate of positive pregnancy tests in the OVUM egg donation programme is 76.5%, resulting in a live birth rate of 61%. Initial consultation usually takes place at OVUM in Athens, although a consultation with a consultant embryologist in London can be arranged.
