Founded in 1884, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York is the world’s oldest and largest private cancer centre, internationally regarded as a leader in patient care, research and educational programmes for future physicians and scientists.
Facilities at MSK include 473 inpatient beds, a 72,000-square-foot surgical centre and a state-of-the-art treatment hub for outpatient procedures. The hospital is staffed by over 1,000 physicians who work in more than a dozen multidisciplinary cancer care teams to provide treatment for all forms of the disease, from the most common to the rarest, both in adults and children.
As a leading research centre with 35 state-of-the-art core facilities, MSK is able to offer the very latest treatments and technologies for cancer, including state-of-the-art diagnostics, pioneering radiation therapy, more-effective chemotherapy and the opportunity to take part in paediatric and adult clinical trials.
MSK is also recognised for excellence in oncology nursing. Its textbook on nursing oncology published in 1986, established the original standards of care in the field and paved the way for specialised oncology training for nurses throughout the USA.
